Santa Maria, the home of Hardy Diagnostics, is located on the Central Coast of California, which is world renowned for its beauty. Santa Maria is about an hour's drive north of Santa Barbara and a ½ hour south of San Luis Obispo. It is located 12 miles inland from the Pacific Coast and enjoys a mild, Mediterranean style, smog-free climate with average daytime temperatures in the 70's.
The total population of Santa Maria and its neighboring area is a manageable 110,000+. The local attractions are numerous. Santa Maria is the retail center for the Central Coast, features many beautiful parks, and is the gateway to the entire Central Coast area: an area that includes Pismo Beach, San Luis Obispo, Morro Bay, Cambria Pines, Avila Beach and Mineral Springs, Lake Lopez, Santa Margarita Lake, San Simeon (Hearst Castle) and Big Sur.
The quaint Danish community of Solvang; and the equestrian areas and wineries of the Santa Ynez Valley lie only 30 minutes to the south.
The Santa Maria Valley is well known for its excellent vineyards and strawberry fields. Small wineries and tasting rooms abound in this valley.
Access to such secluded beaches as Point Sal, Jalama, Guadalupe Dunes, Oso Flaco, or Pismo Beach is only 15-25 minutes away.
Santa Maria is the home of the renowned "Tri-Tip BBQ", which originated here. For western enthusiasts, the action-packed "Santa Maria Elks Rodeo" is one of the top five rodeos in the nation.
Santa Maria and the adjoining community of Orcutt boast a top-rated, award-winning school district. Allan Hancock College of Santa Maria also enjoys an excellent reputation; especially well known for its highly acclaimed world class theatre group, the PCPA (Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts).
